Taking applications for the 2026-2027 School Year

Bergamot Montessori is a micro-school located in Gasport, NY. We are proud to be the only licensed* authentic Montessori program in Niagara County. We also offer full-day and half-day options. Bergamot provides a multi-aged learning environment, serving children aged 2 years 10 months to 5 years, for the surrounding communities of Lockport, Middleport, and Medina. We partner with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services to help eligible families with tuition. Bergamot aims to enable all children and families the ability to choose high-quality, beautiful learning environments as they navigate life's unfolding journey.

An Authentic Montessori School
Bergamot faithfully follows Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy, methods, and materials. To achieve authenticity, we adhere to these key concepts:

-Montessori-trained lead teachers (with AMI, AMS, or MACTE training) and trained assistants
-Mixed-age classroom ( 3-6 years old together)
-Children typically stay for a 3-year cycle, including Kindergarten
-Uninterrupted work cycle of 2-3 hours of focused activity each day
-Complete set of Montessori materials (practical life, sensorial, math, language, cultural, and science)
-Child-sized, orderly classroom designed for independence
-Child Led Learning
-Emphasis on Independence
-Teacher Observation and Record Keeping that guides lessons
-Respect for the Whole Child, supporting not just academics, but also Social, Emotional, and Moral Development.

An Intentionally Small Community
As an intentionally-small, community embedded learning environment, our school allows us to serve every child and family in deep and meaningful partnership with their teacher leaders.

A Place for All
Bergamot Montessori admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
We gratefully acknowledge the Haudensaunee people on whose ancestral homelands we gather, as well as the diverse and vibrant Native communities who make their home here today.
